Jeffrey A. Joerres is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ManpowerGroup. Having joined the organization in 1993, Joerres served as Vice President of Marketing and Senior Vice President of European Operations and Global Account Management. In 1999, he was named President and CEO, and in 2001 Chairman of the Board.
Joerres has led a transformation of ManpowerGroup's business strategy, adding new business lines that have expanded the company's ability to assist clients and candidates in navigating the changing world of work. He leads ManpowerGroup's provision of innovative workforce solutions to companies of all sizes worldwide, allowing them to meet their business objectives. Joerres is a true thought leader within his industry, and has advised domestic and foreign governments about how to transform their labor markets to compete in the global economy. In 2010, Joerres testified at a hearing of the US Congress Joint Economic Committee focused on policies to foster economic growth, recommending solutions to drive job creation.
Under Joerres' tenure, ManpowerGroup has experienced rapid growth, expanding the footprint of the organization to 3,900 offices across 82 countries and territories. His strong leadership ensured that Manpower weathered the economic storm of 2008-2009 admirably, and enabled the organization to leverage its strengths to take advantage of the moves the company made during the downturn. ManpowerGroup has climbed the ranks of the Fortune 500 American companies list, moving from 183 to 138 in 2011. Under Joerres, ManpowerGroup was Named the number 1 Most Admired Company in the Temporary Help industry in 2011 by Fortune magazine the ninth consecutive year that Manpower has been named to this list. In 2010 Joerres was named as the Most Powerful Person in staffing by Staffing Industry Review magazine and to Institutional Investor magazine's list of the best CEOs in America for the seventh time, the top-performing sell-side CEO in the business, education and professional sector.
Outside of the company, Joerres serves on the board of trustees for the Committee for Economic Development (CED), and is co-chair of the Future Workforce Committee of the Greater Milwaukee Committee. In addition to the ManpowerGroup board, Joerres is a member of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Johnson Controls and the US Council for International Business (USCIB).
Joerres was the 2010 Co-chair at the World Economic Forum on Europe meeting, as well as the keynote speaker at the World Human Resources Congress in 2000, 2004 and 2006. In 2010, Joerres made a keynote address to Staffing World 2010, where he explained that the staffing industry can help clients reconsider their models, optimize their talent, and adapt to change as access to human capital becomes the key competitive differentiator. He was also a featured panelist at the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum 2010, the 2010 World Human Resources Congress, the Future of Work Symposium and the Economist's Ideas Economy: Human Potential event which explored the power of humans in the business world of the future.
Prior to joining Manpower, Joerres held the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ARI Network Services, a high-tech electronic data interchange company. He has also held several management positions within IBM. Joerres has a bachelor's degree from Marquette University's College of Business Administration.
Mike Van Handel Executive Vice President & CFO
Mike Van Handel is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at ManpowerGroup. He is responsible for ManpowerGroup's worldwide finance, accounting and IT functions, as well as managing the company's investor relations. He joined the company in 1989 and he has been Chief Financial Officer since 1998. Prior to ManpowerGroup, Mike began his career in the Audit Division of Arthur Andersen in 1982.
Mike has been recognized by Institutional Investor magazine with the prestigious America's Best CFO for Business and Professional Services award every year since 2005. He was also recognized as CFO of the Year by the Greater Milwaukee Business Journal in 2008 and Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by the Marquette University College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management in 2011.
Mike graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting from Marquette University and holds an MBA in Banking and Finance from the University of Wisconsin.
Mike is on the Board of BMO Financial Corporation, serving on their Audit Committee and Risk Oversight Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Cellular Dynamics International, the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and the College of Business Administration Dean's Council of Excellence at Marquette University.
Darryl Green Executive Vice President, President - Asia Pacific and Middle East
Darryl Green is the Executive Vice President for ManpowerGroup and President of the company's Asia Pacific and Middle East operations. Previously in charge solely of Asia Pacific, Darryl took on additional responsibility for overseeing the Middle East from January 2009. This represents a natural progression for him, as the majority of the workforce in the Middle East is sourced from the Asian region.
Prior to joining Manpower in May 2007 to lead Asia and Pacific, Green served as CEO of Tata Teleservices, India's fastest growing telecom operator, where revenues tripled and market share doubled during his tenure, which began in 2005. Previously, Green was CEO of Vodafone Japan, a publicly listed mobile services provider, where earnings more than doubled and revenues grew to US$15 billion during his three years at the helm. From 1989 to 1998, Green held various management positions within AT&T, including three years as President and CEO of its Japanese operations.
Green holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BA in Japanese/Asian studies from Brigham Young University. He is an American national who speaks fluent Japanese. He has served as the Vice Chairman of the Japan Telecommunications Association and as a member of the Mizuho Financial Group's advisory board.
Françoise Gri Executive Vice President, President of Southern Europe
Françoise Gri has been President of Manpower France since February 2007, and in January 2011 took on the additional role of President of Southern Europe. France is the company's largest single market generating over $6 billion in revenue (more than a third of ManpowerGroup's total revenue).
In her role as president of the operating region, Françoise relies on her exceptional leadership skills to run an organization of nearly 5,000 employees across more than 1,100 offices serving over 90,000 clients each year.
During her tenure with Manpower, Françoise has launched a process that is vitally transforming Manpower France into a business which "Creates Employment Solutions" for both candidates and clients. It is this type of innovation that is critical to building a new contemporary brand in France. Aside from concentrating on growing the company's business, Françoise is working hard to ensure that diversity and equal opportunities continue to be a cornerstone of ManpowerGroup's growth. For example, she created "Manpower Equal Opportunities," a new division which aims to mobilize the long-term unemployed by providing assistance in securing steady full-time jobs.
Françoise was selected by Fortune Magazine for its 2010 list of the "50 Most Powerful Women in Business International" in recognition of her strong business leadership and achievements. This marks her fifth consecutive appearance on one of the world's leading business lists.
Also in 2008, Françoise received the prestigious Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour), a French distinction established in 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte. This world-renowned Order is the highest decoration in France. Additionally, Françoise received the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite (Order of Chivalry) awarded by the President of the French Republic, which was founded in 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle.
Françoise's success as an internationally recognized business leader has also seen her being named to the Board of the Norwegian-based Aker Yards Group, which is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
Françoise is an advocate for the role of women in business and is a true ambassador for equality in the workplace. She was appointed a board member of the Ecole Centrale Paris. Françoise is also a member of the Ethics Committee of the French Business Movement (MEDEF).
Françoise credits her background at IBM for preparing her for her role at Manpower. Her career there spanned over 26 years and saw her holding various leadership roles, including general manager of France, Belgium and Luxembourg; vice president of marketing and channels software for IBM EMEA; and executive of e-business solutions for IBM EMEA. Whilst at IBM, Françoise launched their e-business activity and was also appointed as "IT Manager of the Year" by the readers of the popular French online media channel, "Le Journal du Net." She is a graduate of ENSIMAG in Grenoble, France.
Hans Leentjes Executive Vice President, President of Northern Europe
Hans Leentjes joined ManpowerGroup's Executive Management team as the Executive Vice President, President of Northern Europe, in January 2011. Previous to this appointment Hans was the head of Manpower's EMEA central region (Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg), where he consistently delivered superior results, both strategically and financially, and led through difficult environments successfully.
Hans began his career after completing his studies in sociology at Rotterdam University. Hans brought 15 years of employment services experience to Manpower in 2005 when he became the Country Manager of the Netherlands, leading through such projects as a new branding strategy implementation. In 2008, Hans and the Dutch team successfully finalized the acquisition of Vitae, a specialty engineering and finance firm with revenues in excess of $100 million. He is also a board member of the ABU, the Dutch association of temporary work agencies.
Jonas Prising Executive Vice President, President of The Americas
Jonas Prising was named president of the Americas in 2008. In this role, Prising oversees all aspects of ManpowerGroup's approximately $5 billion business in North, Central and South America.
Prising joined ManpowerGroup in 1999 and has served as managing director of Manpower Italy; director of Manpower Global Accounts Europe, Middle East and Africa; and president of North America.
A recognized expert in labor market trends, diversity and workforce development, Prising is regularly invited to speak at conferences and summits, and regularly appears in national and international media.
Before joining the company, Prising worked for Electrolux, a Swedish multinational. During his 10-year tenure with Electrolux, he held various international positions within the consumer goods and business-to-business divisions, including regional manager for Asia Pacific, managing director of Sales Companies in France and the United Kingdom, and finally head of Global Sales and Marketing for one of its business-to-business divisions.
Active in the community, Prising presently serves as chairman for Junior Achievement USA and on the board of directors for Junior Achievement Worldwide and Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Inc.
Prising holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics and has participated in executive programs at Stanford, INSEAD and Yale. He speaks five languages: English, French, German, Swedish and Italian. Prising and his family reside in the Milwaukee area.
Owen Sullivan is President, Specialty Brands, for ManpowerGroup where he serves multiple roles including CEO of Right Management and Experis, as well as leader of ManpowerGroup's Global Sales organization.In 2003, Owen joined ManpowerGroup as CEO of its professional services subsidiary, Jefferson Wells, which specialized in Internal
Audit, Finance & Accounting, Tax and Technology Risk Management. In 2004, he was named Executive Vice President of ManpowerGroup, and accepted additional responsibility as CEO of Right Management. Right Management operates in 53 countries and is the global market leader in outplacement as well as a global leader in organizational development. Owen assumed leadership in 2007 of ManpowerGroup's global sales operations and global accounts which manages the company's largest global clients. In 2010 he accepted responsibility for Experis, a $3.5 billion global business which places skilled professionals in the areas of IT, Engineering, Finance and Healthcare. Jefferson Wells was integrated into Experis in 2010.Before joining ManpowerGroup, Sullivan worked as a management consultant with several venture capitalists and equity groups, building strategic plans and evaluating acquisition opportunities. Prior to that, he served as President of the Financial Services Group of Metavante Corporation, as well as President of Metavante's Enterprise Solutions Group.Owen finds time for commitments outside of work and currently serves on various Boards of Directors including Journal Communications, Ministry HealthCare, Medical College of Wisconsin and the Children's Hospital and Healthcare System of Wisconsin. He is a native of Boston, Mass., a graduate of Marquette University and has completed several advanced Business Management Programs through Harvard Business School and the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.
Mara Swan Executive Vice President, Global Strategy and Talent
Mara Swan is ManpowerGroup's Executive Vice President, Global Strategy and Talent, after being promoted from Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources. Mara came on board in 2005 and has had a significant impact in both the human resources area of the organization and the strategy and contemporary talent development area.
As a recognized expert in Human Resources, Mara is featured regularly as a speaker at high profile events, including the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where she has provided council on women in leadership, amongst other topics. In recognition of her success, Mara was named as a 'Woman of Influence' in the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2008.
A veteran of the human resources profession, Mara joined Manpower from the Molson Coors Brewing Company where she served as Chief People Officer for its global operations. Prior to her tenure with Molson Coors, she was Human Resources Manager for Miller Brewing Company.
Mara holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Buffalo and a master's degree in industrial relations from the University of Minnesota.
David Arkless President - Corporate and Government Affairs
David Arkless is ManpowerGroup's President of Corporate and Government Affairs a position he attained December 2008. David joined Manpower Inc in 1992.
David is a world-renowned expert on labor market trends and has widespread experience of helping countries to develop their labor market strategies. He is responsible for Governmental and International Affairs and as such has been called to advise the Governments of China, Mexico, Vietnam and the UAE, and various mega-cities like Shanghai. As well as being a regular advisor to the US Department of State, and various EU departments. David is also Vice President of Ciett, the international confederation of private employment agencies. In May 2010, David became Vice President of the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (CICPMC) in Beijing.
David also manages ManpowerGroup's strategic relationships with high-profile organizations such as the World Economic Forum where is one of the founding members of the WEF's Global Agenda Council on the Skills Gap. He also supports partnerships with the European Policy Centre and the Clinton Global Initiative and is an Ambassador for the Centre For Social Justice, and independent think tank, based in the UK.
David has been a highly influential campaigner in the fight to end human trafficking and give refugees real hope for the future and is President of the Board of End Human Trafficking Now! He has also been at the forefront of ManpowerGroup's involvement in ninemillion.org, a UN initiative to provide education to the nine million young refugees all over the world as well as our campaign to end human trafficking; ManpowerGroup was the first company to sign the Athens Ethical Principles, which declare a "zero tolerance" policy for working with any entity, which benefits in any way, from human trafficking. David is also a founding member of the Demand Abolition Advisory Council, based in the US.
David serves as an advisory board member of both the International Organization for Migration and the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). David also serves as a Board Member of Education For Employment, the pre-eminent US based foundation which helps unemployed young people and the long-term unemployed in the Middle East and Africa. He is also a Board member of the Club of The Hague. In 2011, David has joined the Advisory Board of PNB-NAPEO a public - private partnership that exists to better link young entrepreneurs and business leaders in the United States and the Maghreb.
David is a regular speaker at high profile events including the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, the OECD, the United Nations, European Parliament, UK Parliament and House of Lords Select Committees, US Congressional and senate committees and at various internationally renowned business schools. Ken C. Hunt Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer
Ken C. Hunt was named Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for ManpowerGroup in December 2007.
In this role, Ken serves as ManpowerGroup's General Counsel. He is also accountable for ManpowerGroup's overall legal plan and structure, as well as its corporate governance and securities.
ManpowerGroup has a deep heritage of operating at the highest level of integrity and Ken is flag bearer for ManpowerGroup's strong commitment to responsible business practices. Conducting business in an ethical and responsible manner is a key reason why Manpower was named America's Most Admired staffing company by Fortune Magazine in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and named one of the Best Managed Companies by Forbes Magazine in 2004.
Ken has been associated with ManpowerGroup for over 25 years - he served as the company's outside counsel prior to joining in his current post. Ken says "Moving over to Manpower was a very natural and welcomed step as I had been working with the company for so long, and was already fully ingrained in the Manpower culture."
During Ken's time outside of Manpower, he was a shareholder, member of the Corporate Law Practice Group, and member of the Management Committee for Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., ManpowerGroup's primary law firm.
Ken's expertise in law has led to his recognition in The Best Lawyers in America in the Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities Law categories.
Outside of ManpowerGroup, Ken has shared his expertise with the University of Wisconsin Law School - serving as an instructor on the faculty and teaching a course on corporate acquisitions and restructuring for several years.
Before Ken began practicing law, in 1976, he graduated with distinction from the Duke University Law School in 1976 where he served as an editor of the Duke Law Journal. He received his Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude from the University of Michigan.
In her role, Tammy leads ManpowerGroup in anticipating and navigating the trends in the changing world of work and creating innovative services and solutions that help our clients and candidates win. As ManpowerGroup's resident futurist, Tammy develops new ways of thinking about and approaching work models, people practices and talent sources that take advantage of the changing world of work. Her key areas of focus include developing strategic partnerships that accelerate the execution of the Company's business strategy, including leading research based knowledge collaborations with key thought leaders and experts on the most important issues impacting global talent markets. These initiatives focus on the impact that globalization, technology and demographics will have on emerging business models and the way we work in the future. Tammy has collaborated on research and thought leadership activities with Harvard Business School, McKinsey Global Institute, MIT Center for Collective Intelligence, the Future of Work Institute, Aspen Institute and Moxie insight. As well she coauthored the Harvard Business Review Big Idea article, The Age of Hyperspecialization (July 2011). Tammy's extensive experience includes Human Resource Management, Global Sales and Strategic Account Management and Country level Operational Management. Tammy holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey Business School and a Canadian Certified Human Resource Professional designation.
Denis Edwards Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Officer
Denis Edwards is ManpowerGroup's Global Chief Information Officer and a member of ManpowerGroup's Executive Management Team, following his promotion from Vice President - Global Solutions Delivery in January 2009. As CIO, Denis has overall responsibility for leading and coordinating information technology functions across ManpowerGroup's operations in 82 countries and territories. Denis joined Manpower in 2007 and has played a significant role in developing key transformational technology solutions for Manpower's global operations that benefit the company's clients and associates.
Prior to joining Manpower, Denis was Vice President Global Solutions and Architecture for Cadbury-Schweppes, the world's biggest confectionery company. Denis has also held senior IT roles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he served as Managing Director of Application Services; Marriott International, as Vice President of IS Strategy; and Marriott Vacation Club, as Chief Technology Officer. In addition to his Fortune 500 expertise, Denis has served as Chief Technology Officer for several successful start-up organizations.
Denis holds a Master of Science Certificate in Information Technology from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, where he graduated with honors. He is a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society. Denis is also a member of Fortune Magazine's Info Tech 40 group and is a member of the Board of Directors for Guitars for Vets, a non-profit providing free guitars and music tuition to enhance the lives of injured veterans.
