Social Responsibility

ManpowerGroup has a reputation for operating at the highest level of integrity. Our strong commitment to responsible business practices is reflected in everything we do — from the transparency of our communications with shareholders, as shown in our Corporate Governance structure and policies, to the unparalleled benefits that we offer to our temporary employees and contractors. We strive to provide a great work environment for our employees and to be a beacon of integrity for our clients.

ManpowerGroup's approach to social responsibility is driven by our Global Values, Vision and Strategies that determine the way in which we do business. We are committed to: respect for people, clients and community and the role of work in their lives; sharing our knowledge and expertise to develop sustainable workforce practices throughout the world; and striving for excellence through innovation to develop socially inclusive working environments for the long-term. Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics promotes honest and ethical conduct throughout the organization, as well as provides a mechanism to report unethical conduct via the ManpowerGroup Ethics Hotline to help preserve the culture of honesty and accountability throughout the Company.

ManpowerGroup's business is, in itself, socially responsible because everything we do is geared toward connecting people with jobs, which enables individuals to support themselves and their families. Our free training programs allow all of our permanent, contract and temporary employees to improve their skills and grow in their careers, thereby improving their long-term career potential. Our outplacement services ensure that, when a client has to eliminate jobs, it is done in a manner that enables individuals to receive the support, training and career counseling they require in finding their way back to employment.

We strive to be socially responsible in every aspect of our business. And we often focus our resources with special initiatives in which we can have the most impact, helping to create a bridge to employment for disadvantaged individuals through various workforce development programs around the world. We are also dedicated to increasing awareness of, and opposition to, labor practices that exploit individuals, particularly those who are vulnerable.

ManpowerGroup stands for ManpowerGroup stands against

The dignity of work, employment opportunities for all, ethical and effective business practices, a sustainable environment and successful local communities. We provide opportunities for work and we help clients succeed. When appropriate, we leverage our core competencies in partnership with governments, businesses and/or NGOs to focus on special initiatives that help to provide jobs and job training for the following groups:

  • Long-term unemployed/under-employed
  • People with disabilities
  • Disenfranchised individuals (minorities, immigrants)
  • Victims of disaster (tsunami, hurricanes)
  • Victims of exploitation (trafficking, etc.)
  • Refugees
  • Youth

Practices that exploit people, and limit opportunities for individuals to fully enjoy the dignity of work, especially the most vulnerable in society. We attempt to reduce abuse, focusing on creating awareness of, and opposition to, the following practices, until such time as we can help provide a bridge to employment for affected individuals.

  • Exploitation of disadvantaged individuals
  • Human trafficking
  • Forced labor including child labor
  • Illegally low wages for vulnerable individuals
  • Unsafe working conditions
