Manpower Services (New Zealand) Limited (trading as Manpower, Experis, ManpowerGroup Solutions and ManpowerGroup) cares about your privacy and recognises it has obligations to maintain privacy in respect of your personal information. Your personal information will only be collected, stored and disclosed in accordance with the privacy principles in the Privacy Act 1993 (Act) and any amendments to that Act, or as otherwise required by law.

What your personal information is
“Personal information” under the Act means any information about an identifiable individual. Personal information may be in any form (written or printed, on an electronic file, or in a manager’s mind).
Personal information we wish to collect
We will only collect personal information about you if it is needed for a relevant lawful purpose connected with our activities and functions as an agency. This includes any purpose connected with our function as an agency that determines suitability for placements with our clients.
We will not use personal information we obtained in connection with one purpose for any other purpose.
Who do we collect this personal information from?
Personal information will be collected from you directly when you fill out and submit one of our registration forms or any other information in connection with your application to us for registration. Personal information may also be collected through contact with us (for example by telephone or email).
Personal information may be collect from third parties when you have authorised us to do so, or if the information if already publicly available.
If possible, we will endeavour to collect personal information form you directly, whether prior to employment or during employment.
When collecting your personal information, we will ensure you know it is being collected, why it is being collected, who will receive and hold the information and your rights to request correction of that information.
How your personal information will be used
We will use your personal information to:
- verify your identity;
- determine possible work placement;
- to tell you about other services that we may provide;
- to ask your opinion about our services;
- to advise you of opportunities you may be interested in; or
- for any other purpose authorised by you or the Act.
Your personal information may be disclosed to…
- any other company within our group;
- potential and actual employers and clients to whom we provide services as an agency if you authorise us to do so;
- any person with a lawful entitlement to obtain the information;
- any other person authorised by the Act or another law; or
- any other person authorised by you.
We will not disclose any personal information to any other person or agency unless we believe, on reasonable grounds, that disclosure is one of the purposes for which the information was obtained, or disclosure is directly related to the purposes for which the information was obtained.
You can gain access to your information to correct it if it is wrong
In line with the Act, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we have about you is accurate, up to date, complete, relevant, and not misleading.
You have the right to access your readily retrievable personal information that we hold and to request a correction to your personal information. Before you exercise this right, we will need evidence to confirm that you are the individual to whom the personal information relates.
In respect of a request for correction, if we think the correction is reasonable and we are reasonably able to change the personal information, we will make the correction. If we do not make the correction, we will take reasonable steps to note on the personal information that you requested the correction.

Storage and Security
We will take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity or other misuse.
We will not hold on to your personal information for longer than required for the purposes for which the information may lawfully be used. By law, we need to keep certain information (such as wages and time records) for a certain length of time.
At your request, we will mark your personal information as inactive. You will be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from us by responding to the option to opt out in the relevant communication.
As our servers are located overseas, you accept and provide us with consent to transfer your personal information outside of New Zealand. We will ensure that this information is given reasonable protection in accordance with NZ laws and this privacy statement.
If you believe we have breached your privacy in any way, please come see us.
If we can not rectify the situation to your satisfaction, you can lodge a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner or the Ombudsman. If the Privacy Commissioner can not achieve a settlement of the complaint in discussion or mediation, civil proceedings may be brought before the Human Rights Tribunal.
